After a fabulous finish to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in which we saw Argentina finally lift the Cup after a nail-biting finish to the final, we take a look back at some of the best goals in the tournament.
Out of an astounding number of 172 goals that were scored in the World Cup this year, we witnessed all types of goals. From match-winning long shots to last-minute tap-ins the fans saw it all.
It is tough to believe that the greatest tournament in the world- the World Cup is already over. From Argentina’s first loss to Saudi Arabia to the dramatic win in the final against France, we have come a long way. 10. Salem Al-Dawsari Vs Argentina
The goal resulted in one of the biggest upsets of the tournament after Saudi Arabia defeated Argentina 2-1 in a group-stage match. Al-Dawsari’s stunning strike from the edge of the penalty box which beat Emi Martinez was one of the best in the tournament.
9. Wout Weghorst Vs Argentina
The timing of the goal is what made it so important rather than the manner in which it was scored. A set-piece routine from which Weghorst received the ball in the penalty area in the 11th minute of stoppage time to score a brace after coming off the bench in the 83rd minute to change the face of the match.
8. Marcus Rashford vs Wales
Scoring the first free-kick goal against Wales, the Manchester United star connected with the ball perfectly which nestled in the top right corner leaving the Welsh keeper no chance at all. With this goal, he announced his comeback on the international stage.
7. Goncalo Ramos Vs Switzerland
Having replaced Ronaldo in the squad the pressure was high on the Benfica striker. However, he proved everyone wrong when hammered a left-footed shot taken from an almost impossible angle from the left side of the goal. He also scored a hattrick to knock Switzerland out of the World Cup.

Another free-kick goal on the list, this one was absolutely spectacular as it was a curler that beat the keeper and hit the back of the net to keep Mexico’s round of 16 hopes still alive as they tried to survive the Group stage.
5. Mislav Orsic Vs Morocco
The Dinamo Zagreb winger finessed his shot to clip the inside of the post beyond the keeper’s reach and give Croatia the lead in a vital third-place match in the World Cup.
4. Neymar Jr. Vs Croatia
A one touch pass and go type of goal he got behind the defensive line rather quickly and received the ball to put it past the mighty Livakovic in extra time against Croatia to light up Brazil’s hopes of advancing in the World Cup. The definition of Joga Bonito.

In a must-win game for Argentina, their captain stepped up to beautifully finish an outside-the-box delightful goal. At the world’s biggest stage he kept his team alive with this moment of magic and then went on to eventually win the World Cup.

The goal that spiked a stunning comeback, it was a delightful connection on the volley to put the ball past Emi Martinez and bring back France from the dead. In a match where he scored a hattrick, it was a heroic effort despite France’s loss in the World Cup final.

Officially announced as the goal of the tournament for the FIFA World Cup 2022, it was no doubt that Richarlison’s scissor kick would top the list. In the running for a Puskas nomination, the Brazilian could take back this goal which displayed his skill and ability as one of the positives of the tournament after an early exit.
