Dominic Thiem defeated Stan Wawrinka at Paris Masters in the round of 64. He signed the camera after the match which ended at 2 am in the morning.
The fans just witnessed an electrifying match of an electrifying event at the Paris Masters. The Paris Masters is the last tournament before the Nitto ATP Finals next month.
Dominic Thiem was up against Stan Wawrinka today and had to dig deep for a place in the next round. The battle lasted for 2 and a half hours and it was 2:22 a.m. when it finally ended. Dominic Thiem was brave enough to save match points in the third set when he was trailing by 3-5 and got the better of Wawrinka to win the match. Thiem was playing his third match of the tournament since the qualifying round.
It has not been a smooth ride for him in recent years. He struggled with form in 2021 and later had to withdraw from the Tokyo Olympics and the remaining tournaments due to a wrist injury. He dropped below the top 100 rankings.
He did make a comeback in 2022 and got a few wins which brought him back to the top 100. Coming to 2023, he played his first final since the Nitto ATP Finals in 2020 at the Austrian Open.
His win against the Swiss was his first Masters win after a long time and this will give him a boost to perform better. The win wouldn’t have been possible for the Austrian without the support of the crowd. They were cheering till the match finished in the morning.

Dominic Thiem became the 12th ATP player in the history of tennis to have a career earning of $30 million.
Dominic Thiem achieved this feat after he qualified for the main draw playing through two qualifying rounds. He defeated Lorenzo Sonego and Christopher O’Connell on his way to the main draw. The amount that is awarded for winning the qualifying rounds sums up Thiem’s career prize money to $30 million.
It is a rare feat which has been only achieved by 11 players to date. This also makes him the 7th active player to do so. He has earned an amount of $720,000 so far this season.
Dominic Thiem turned pro in 2011 and has won a no. of titles to date. He has earned a good amount of prize money from the Majors itself. The Majors offer the highest Prize Money and having won one Major Title and reaching three other Major Finals has helped him achieve this feat.
Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Alexander Zverev, Stan Wawrinka, Daniil Medvedev, and Marin Cilic are the only active players with better career prize money.
