Holger Rune made a big revelation today as he announced that Roger Federer’s former coach, Severin Luthi, will be joining his coaching team.
The Dane took to social media to announce the addition of the Swiss coach to his coaching and training staff. Earlier in October, former world no.1 Boris Becker became a mentor to Rune.

The upcoming 2024 season is an important one that also features the Summer Olympics. Winning in such a jam-packed schedule wouldn’t have been easy for Rune. However, now with the addition of two masterminds of tennis; One being a six-time Grand Slam champion Boris Becker and the other being a well-known top coach Severin Luthi.
The 2023 season was a roller-coaster for Rune. He lost key matches and crumbled in tiebreakers for some reason. This run included a loss in the fourth round to Andrey Rublev. The early failures of 2023 were followed by a parting of ways with former coach Patrick Mouratoglou, with whom he spent six months.
He was able to turn around his season with some key victories over Daniil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner to reach the finals of Monte-Carlos. He couldn’t win as he lost to Rublev again.

It would happen again at another Masters event, this time in Rome where he would defeat two top players Novak Djokovic and Casper Ruud in QF and SF respectively to reach the finals. However, he lost again to Daniil Medvedev in straight sets in the finals. He finished the season with only one title to his name which he won at the Bavarian International in Munich.
To overcome such failures and to make the upcoming season a breakout one, Rune has bolstered his coaching line-up by adding the two greats. Both Boris Becker and Luthi will be able to guide Rune to overcome such hurdles in the 2024 season.
“Holger is fearless” – Alex Corretja had high praise for rising star Holger Rune
In a recent interview with Eurosport, Alex Corretja said that he is excited for Holger Rune ahead of the 2024 season.
The Spaniard hailed Holger Rune for his fearless attitude. He believes that the youngster has the right mindset and is confident enough to challenge anyone on the world. He also expressed that choosing Boris Becker as a coach was the right decision for the Dane and their partnership will yield high dividends for Rune.

“Holger is fearless. He’s young and he’s just going with the flow. He feels like he can be in top of the world and he says it. It’s great. I like when they say those things.”
“As long as you are not cocky, as long as you are not someone that doesn’t show respect for the opponents, as long as you understand that you can be very ambitious, but at the same time, it’s very good to be humble because you can have these high expectations, but you need to know how difficult they are.”
“Boris can help him because he was a star then he was a great coach, and he’s been with players that were No. 1.”
Rune is set to start his campaign from Brisbane. The tournament starts on 31st December.
