Aryna Sabalenka who lost to Coco Gauff in the US Open Final, would like to have a rematch and settle the score once and for all.
The WTA Finals are around the corner and it is time for the top 8 WTA singles and doubles players to end the year on a high. It is named the GNP Seguro WTA Finals which is all set to take place in Cancun, Mexico between 29 October and 5 November. It is the first time the tournament will be hosted in Cancun. It is the season-ending tournament of the WTA Tour. It is the most prestigious tournament after the Majors, an event for both women’s singles and doubles format.
The tournament will be played by the top 8 in the WTA singles and doubles rankings. It has been divided into groups of two. The two groups are the Bacalar Group and Chetumal Group for the singles category and the Mahahual Group and Maya Ka’an Group for the doubles category.
The players play each other in a round-robin format and the top two reach the semifinals where the top player from each group plays the second player from the other group.

Aryna Sabalenka will lead the Bacalar Group and Iga Swiatek will lead the Chetumal Group.
Aryna Sabalenka who is the top seed in the tournament is the only major winner of this season in her group. She won the 2023 Australian Open earlier this year. Iga Swiatek is the second seed who is leading the Chetumal Group. She has a very tough group as she has been grouped alongside two other Major winners this season. Iga Swiatek won the 2023 French Open, Coco Gauff won the US Open and Marketa Vondrousova won the Wimbledon Open.
Aryna Sabalenka wants to settle score with Coco Gauff
Aryna Sabalenka has been in great form this season and would like to end the season as the No.1 player. Besides the Australian Open, she has also performed very well making it to the finals of the US Open and the semifinals of the French and Wimbledon Open. She also reached the finals of the WTA Finals last year and missed the Title by a small margin.
It was a shocking loss for Sabalenka and all her fans at the US Open Finals. She won the first set by a good margin and was hoping to finish it in the second set. But god had some other plans for her and Gauff got the better of her in the other two sets by a good margin and won the match 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. So reached the top of the WTA rankings after the US Open final and made it to the WTA Finals as the top seed. The Belarusian has been grouped alongside Elena Rybakina, Jessica Pegula, and Maria Sakkari and looks good enough on paper to reach the semifinals.
In a recent interview, she mentioned about her disappointment after the US Open final loss. And she said that she would like to have a rematch against Coco Gauff. Looking at the draw, she might have a chance to rematch either in the semifinal or the final. Since it is the WTA Finals, there cannot be a better chance to take the revenge and end the year on a high.
