We all know about Ballon D’or, the most prestigious and highest-ranked individual award. Given to players who have been outstanding throughout the season. Over the years many footballers honored with this award.
Lionel Messi has the most number of Ballon D’ors (7) followed by Cristiano Ronaldo (5), both players are the only players to receive this award more than 4 times.
The first Ballon d’Or award was given out in 1956, and since then, several of the finest players in history have won it.
But that’s not the most prestigious award given to an individual in football, it’s the Super Ballan D’or given to only one player in history and that is Di Stefano.
Which player has won the Super Ballon D’or?
Only one person holds the distinction of having won the “Super Ballon d’Or,” and that person is Real Madrid legend, Alfredo Di Stefano.
Di Stefano has won 5 consecutive European Championships from 1956 to 1960. Over the period of his career with Real Madrid, Di Stefano has scored more than 300 goals for the club.
The one-of-a-kind trophy spent many years on display at the Real Madrid Museum at the Santiago Bernabeu before being put up for auction in London in September 2021 as part of an exhibition featuring other renowned pieces of memorabilia from Alfredo Di Stefano’s career.
In the auction, the prize was sold out for amazing 18,200 euros.
One wrote: “Super Ballón d’Or, an award given to the best player of the past 3 decades, only won by Di Stéfano. Give it to Messi and let it be the cherry on top of his unrealistic story.”
Another person added, “Before this very moment I had no idea this existed but now I know that it does, give it to Leo.”
