“The ball stops. The feelings inside me do not,” 39-year-old Ribery wrote on social media in English, French, Italian and German.

Ribery and Arjen Robben had a fantastic wing partnership at Munich until both players departed the team in 2019. They terrorised defences from either flank.
Since Salernitana’s opening-day loss to Roma, Ribery hasn’t played for the club, which he joined in 2021. His retirement has been rumoured for some weeks.
Salernitana announced earlier this month that they were in talks with the Frenchman regarding a post at the club. Now that Ribery has made the decision to put up his boots, he may take on a managerial role there.
