Former NWA North American Heavyweight Champion Barry Windham was one of the most prominent wrestlers in The World Wrestling Federation in 1984. The Hall of Famer of the class of 2012, Barry joined the Hall of Fame as a member of the Four Horsemen.
Along with his brother-in-law Mike Rotunda, they were unstoppable and reigned over the WWE Tag Team Championship title for a year. Their tag team was so invincible that it was named The U.S. Express.
Barry was seen leaving the WWF stage just after a year of his debut. He later joined the WWF Universe on numerous occasions but was never a mainstay. However, he played one of the most integral roles in the WWE.
Barry Windham was hospitalized after suffering a ‘heart attack’
WWE Hall of Famer Barry Windham was hospitalized and placed in an ICU after he suffered a heart attack. The professional wrestler was traveling through Atlanta when he had a heart attack.
The player underwent an emergency procedure to save his life and currently is in an ICU, waiting for his condition to get stable. “As a family, we are impatiently waiting to hear that he will be okay. But as of now, the future is uncertain,” says Mika Rotunda, his niece.
Also the daughter of Mike Rotunda, Mika set up a fundraiser for Barry Windham as he is hospitalized without life insurance. “Barry hung his boots for the last time in the early 2000s. Since then he has been limited with work due to his medical history as well as left without health insurance,” reads the description of the fundraiser.
The World sends their prayer and “get well soon” wishes as he is recovering in his ICU ward.
The fundraiser has raised over $27k over the duration of 3 days and is still counting. Let us hope for his speedy recovery and wish to hear from Barry real soon.
