England supporters lambasted Harry Maguire for giving away a penalty against Germany. He fouled Musiala within the box, resulting in a penalty.
Before issuing a penalty kick, the referee analysed the situation. People took aim at Manchester United defender Ilkay Gundogan after he converted a penalty to open the score at Wembley Stadium.
Fans Reaction after Harry Maguire’s poor performance against Germany
One fan said, “Why tf won’t England give up on Maguire.. Is he really the best defender??”
Another said, “I never see a player who is bought gor 80 or 90 million and play like this Manchester United should sell him as early as possible ,,otherwise he will be the reason for Manchester United downfall whenever he will plays”.
A third said, “England having a test in their poison. They said Maguire was the best man at the back just that United couldn’t give him support., So I ask, with all the support England gave him what was the outcome.. relegation”.
What has Southgate said in Maguire’s support?
Following his lack of playing time at Manchester United, his selection sparked anger. He started in England’s 1-0 loss to Italy last week, and Gareth Southgate has named him to the starting lineup against Germany.
However, the choice to start Maguire did not go over well with some England fans, who booed him pre to kickoff. Southgate, on the other hand, has offered the player his entire backing.
He said, “Clearly, it’s not an ideal situation [with Maguire]”. “We’re only a few weeks on from pre-season so, physically, if they’ve had a few 90 minutes, that’s fine. Another seven to eight weeks, that does start to become more complicated”.
“But he is an important player for us and it’s important to back our best players. Whatever reputation I have, I’m putting it on there. He is our most dominant aerial centre-back”.
He further added, “Him and John [Stones] are incredible with the ball – the amount of pressure they have taken for the team in tournaments because we don’t always have that midfield pivot player who can progress the game”.
“It means there is a huge amount more pressure on our centre-backs to use the ball well and those two are as good as any in world football at doing that”.
