Chelsea recently announced to the whole world that they are sacking their current manager/ head coach of their main team following their not-so-good start to the League this season.
On 7th September Chelsea officially parted ways with their Champions League-winning coach Thomas Tuchel and his managerial staff. Thomas Tuchel had an amazing record with Chelsea with 60 wins in 100 matches played.
After winning the UEFA Champions League with the club in 2021, Tuchel signed an extension contract with Chelsea that confirmed his stay in Stanford Bridge for another three years.
However, it came as a surprise when Chelsea announced that Thomas Tuchel would not be the manager of the team anymore. With Thomas gone, Chelsea needs a new coach for their team who could show them a roadmap to their victory. Let us take a look at who Chelsea found fit for the job and chose as their new manager.
Who is Graham Potter?
Graham Potter is a former professional football player who generally was seen playing at the left-back position. He has a career total of 19 goals in 377 matches. Coming from a market town Solihull, England, Graham was also spotted playing for the U21 team of the England national football team.
However, Potter is more famed for his managerial career than his career as a player. He was a coach to the Ostersund Fotbollsklubb, a Swedish football club based in the urban area of Ostersund in Sweden.
From there he found his way to an English football club Swansea City in the year 2018. He stayed with the club for a year and guided the team for 51 matches and won 21 out of them with a 41.2% win rate.
Graham Potter currently manages and is the head coach for rival club Brighton & Hove Albion. He has been a part of the club for three years now and has played 135 matches with them. His team came out victorious on 42 occasions making his win rate 31.1%.
Chelsea’s new coach?
After sacking their former coach Thomas Tuchel for the poor start in the current season, Chelsea turned towards Graham Potter for help and to manage their team. Potter will leave Brighton as of now and will join The Blues in their future endeavors.
There is not a written confirmation on the move yet but Chelsea said that the club and Graham Potter had reached a verbal agreement on this topic and Graham Potter will be seen as the team’s new coach on the grounds of Stamford Bridge
