Norwegian striker Erling Haaland scored another brace in UEFA Champions League. Relentless Haaland just can’t stop scoring and it doesn’t matter who’s the opponent. Pep Guardiola’s squad crushed FC Copenhagen in their Continental fixture.
The sheer epitome of dominance was shown from the side of Manchester City. The Danish side was just suffering for the whole time at Etihad Stadium defenselessly. All the stats were screaming the dominance of Pep Guardiola’s side.
FC Copenhagen failed to record a shot on target and they only managed to keep 1/4 of the ball possession. Guardiola started the match with Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez in the attack. But Kevin de Bruyne didn’t step in the field even once.
Erling Haaland’s performance against FC Copenhagen
Erling Haaland broke the deadlock in just the seventh minute after he scored from his first touch of the match. Joao Cancelo gave the Norwegian striker an excellent cross that he curled in the bottom corner to find his squad an early lead.
His other goal also came in the first half when Cancelo’s powerful shot was saved by Grabara but the Danish team’s keeper made a blunder clearing the ball. His clearance came in the way of the Norwegian striker. And Haaland calmly tapped the ball into the net.
The former Borussia Dortmund striker has now scored 28 goals in 22 appearances already more than Rivaldo and Luis Suárez. He has played in the biggest continental competition with RB Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City.
“The way we played was magnificent, I’m so satisfied for the guys and how they performed,” Guardiola said. “The result was excellent but I’m really impressed the way we attacked. I’m really, really satisfied and again, compliments to the players.”
Apart from Erling Haaland’s exceptional performance, Sergio Gómez and Ilkay Gündogan also caught a number of eyeballs. While Riyad Mahrez and Julian Alvarez also got their names on the scoresheet.
