It’s fair to say that Gareth Southgate‘s England sqaud isn’t going through a very good phase. The World Cup is knocking on the door on the other side, and the English manager is not sure about the team selection.
Team Selection isn’t the only problem, lack of form is also hindering their chances of grasping a winning performance at the World Cup. England supporters are critics are showing their great concern for the side, but we can’t say anything is working from their arsenal.
Although, a stat that made Gareth Southgate’s stress cloud-walking was the Three Lions not scoring a single open play goal in more than 500 international minutes.
England vs Germany
However, Luke Shaw helped Southgate take a breath of relief as he scored against Germany in their final UEFA Nations League fixture. The Three Lions drew the match with 3-3 on both sides.
Ilkay Gundogan gave Hansi Flick’s side the lead in the 52nd minute after scoring a Penalty kick. Die Mannschaft doubled the lead 15 minutes later as Kai Havertz found the back of the net with the help of Timo Werner.
The game of substitutions starts, and suddenly a player in red attire scored a screamer, it was Luke Shaw. Luke Shaw has always had a love-hate relationship with football. Because playing for England and Manchester United are his plus, while not getting enough minutes to show his skills are a minus.
Shaw’s strike helped the Three Lions in starting a comeback. Just start a couple of minutes, newly introduced Mason Mount and Bukayo Saka’s pair Gareth Southgate a reason a smile as the match got levelled.
And the smile became a grin when Thilo Kehrer committed a foul in the penalty box. Harry Kane scored the penalty kick with an exquisite finish. The Three Lions were leading with just seven minutes to go.
But the happiness was not got long as Chelsea star Kai Havertz scored the equalizer for Die Mannschaft. And England lost another half one battle. Gareth Southgate’s headache is rising day by day as the Qatar World Cup is coming closer. Because the English have failed to get a win in their last 6 matches.
