Spanish tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz recently revealed the role of his mother and father in achieving his career and life goals and how they keep him humble and grounded even after his rise to the Top 10.
The amount of prize money that Carlitos has accumulated at such a young age is just mind-blowing. The figure is over $27 million. And this is only prize money from his 13 tour titles and 2 Grand Slam wins.
If we include his brand endorsements from some of the biggest companies like Nike, Louis Vuitton, and Rolex, this figure might exceed the $35 million mark.
Yet, Alcaraz leads a very simple and humble life with minimal luxury and likes to channel all his focus to Tennis. According to him, the reason behind this humility is his parents constantly “putting his feet back on the ground.”
Alcaraz took home $1.1 million in prize money after winning the Indian Wells Masters Tournament. He defeated World No. 3 Daniil Medvedev in two straight sets (7-6[5], 6-1) to crown himself as the defending champion of the title.
After the match, Carlos took time to talk with the Tennis Channel desk. Where he talked about his parents’ role in keeping him humble after every time he won big prize money.
“Well, my father and my mom have a really good role. They try to pull me in the ground every time that I win a tournament or I win an amount of money, I’m not gonna lie, I’m not gonna hide. They always stay there to put my feet on the ground,” explained Alcaraz.

“I didn’t enjoy stepping on the court” Carlos Alcaraz expresses his feelings after months of title drought
Before winning the Indian Wells tournament, Carlos Alcaraz says he was going through a tough time. He reveals that he “lost his way” for a few months.
He had won nothing after his amazing Wimbledon victory against Novak Djokovic. In addition to the title drought, he had to also deal with an injury during the “difficult time.”
“It’s difficult to put it into words, because I had really difficult months. Let’s say the last two months it was difficult for me to find myself. I didn’t enjoy stepping on the court. I wasn’t myself on the court the last two months, three months, so it was difficult for me,” said Carlos.
He also expressed his relief after finally winning a trophy at the Indian Wells where he was also the defending champion.
“It means a lot to me, lifting this trophy because I overcome a lot of problems in my head, a lot of problems physically. It was so special for that. That’s why I’m really, really happy to lift this trophy, because I found myself at this tournament, and I felt really, really good.” -Carlos Alcaraz
