Sergio Busquets, a Barcelona midfielder, voiced his dissatisfaction following his team’s 3-3 tie with Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, October 12.
After an error-filled performance against Inter at Camp Nou, the Blaugrana moved closer to a group-stage ouster from the competition. Ousmane Dembele scored for Barcelona in the 40th minute. The Nerazzurri, on the other hand, equalised in the 50th minute through Nicolo Barella after the hosts’ defence was caught sleeping.
After Eric Garcia’s poor defence allowed Lautaro Martinez to handle the ball and score in the 63rd minute, Inter seized the lead.
What did Sergio Busquets said after Inter’s match?
Lewandowski then scored the game’s last goal in stoppage time with a superb header to seal a draw. After the game, Busquets commented on Barcelona’s performance.
Busquets said, “In the first half we were good, we dominated and we found many players between the lines. In the second, everything changed, the goal so early threw us off balance. There were more losses, more loss of control”.
Busquets also mentioned how Inter’s goal caused the home team to lose their composure. He stated, “It seems that when they score a goal for us, it’s chaos. There was a long game left, many minutes, but it was a plus for them and the opposite for us. We weren’t precise or well placed tactically”.
He further added, “Perhaps we were not as forceful as needed in the areas. It was almost a toss-up that has gone wrong for us. It is a disappointment. It was a difficult group, but we had to aspire to more, after the signings that have been made”.
