A video resurfaced online in which Kenza Del recounted her memories as a ball kid at the 2011 French Open final and his gratitude towards her.
Roger Federer defeated Novak Djokovic in the semifinal only to face Rafael Nadal in the final. Federer, however, lost the match 7-5, 7-6(3), 5-7, 6-1 and registered his sixth straight loss to the Spaniard in Roland Garros.
Kenza Del who is a big fan of Federer was lucky to be a ball kid at the final of the 2011 Roland Garros. She made a cute gesture in support of the Swiss before the final match. She wrote ‘Allez Roger’(which means Go Roger) with her fingers on the clay and the moment was captured by a photographer.
Del revealed that the video did reach the eyes of Roger Federer. He thanked her by sending an autographed and framed t-shirt which he wore during the Finals.
The 20-time Grand Slam champion did react to the video and thanked her for sharing the story.
Merci Kenza
-Roger Federer commented
Del is very thankful to the photographer without whom it would not have been possible. It all happened because the photographer sent the video to Federer’s agent whom he had known. She never got an opportunity to meet the photographer later.
