Rey Mysterio, who is arguably one of the best professional wrestlers in history, is revealed to be the first inductee to the 2023 class of the Hall Of Fame. On the 10th March 2023 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Michael Cole announced the first inductee to the Hall of Fame Class of 2023- none other than Rey Mysterio!
Rey Mysterio who is 48 years old and currently set for a match at WrestleMania 39, has been wrestling since he was 14 years old on the independent circuit, before signing on to AAA in 1992. After a brief time at the ECW, he went on to World Championship Wrestling(WCW) in 1996. In WCW, Rey helped popularize “lucha libre” in the US, which eventually led to the rise of the cruiserweight divisions. Mysterio won the WCW Cruiserweight Championship 5 times and WCW World Tag Team Championship 3 times. He later debuted in WWE in 2002.
In WWE, Mysterio has a long list of achievements. He has won the Cruiserweight Championship 3 times, the World Heavyweight Championship, the Intercontinental Championship, and the United States Championship, all of which he won twice. He also won the WWE Championship once and Tag Team Championship 4 times.
Mysterio departed WWE in 2015. He then went to New Japan Pro-Wrestling. He returned to WWE in 2018. He then went on to win the US Championship twice and the SmackDown Tag Team Championship once along with his son, Dominik.

Throughout his long career, Mysterio has held 24 championships between WCW and WWE. In addition to that, he was WWE’s 21st Triple Crown Champion, Grand Slam Champion, and 2006 Royal Rumble winner, and now he is the first inductee to the WWE Hall of Fame, class of 2023. Now he can add the title of “Hall of Famer” to his long list of achievements. Rey will be inducted into the Hall of Fame by the pro wrestler Konnan.
