Ons Jabeur has decided to donate a part of her prize money to help the Palestinians.
It was Jabeur’s second round-robin match in the WTA Finals against Marketa Vondrousova and she won the match in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. In a post-match interview, she mentioned that she was happy with her win but not happy with the situation in Palestine.
In the ongoing WTA Finals, Ons Jabeur has been grouped alongside Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff, and Marketa Vondrousova in the Chetumal Group. She is seeded sixth coming into this tournament. She lost her first match to Coco Gauff 6-0, 6-1. With the win in the second match, she keeps her hopes alive to advance to the semifinal. It also ended the campaign for Vondrousova who has no chance of finishing in the top 2 of the group.
It is a tense situation in the world now with the war between Israel and Hamas. This war has affected thousands of civilians from Israel and Palestine. Ons Jabeur who is not from either of the countries feels heartbroken looking at the situation of the children and babies. She was very emotional after the match and decided to donate a part of her prize money to the affected people.
“It’s very tough seeing children & babies dying every day. It’s heartbreaking. I have decided to donate part of my prize money to help the Palestinians. I can’t be happy with this win. It is not a political message, it is humanity. I want peace in this world. That’s it.”

Ons Jabeur reveals the victory perfume in her match against Vondrousova
Ons Jabeur was wearing a Gucci perfume in her winning match against Vondrousova today. In an interview with the Tennis Channel after her match, she was asked about her win and also her perfumes.
Ons Jabeur was playing against Marketa Vondrousova in her second round-robin match in the WTA Finals. It was Jabeur’s first win against Vondrousova in their four meetings this season. She lost the earlier three matches. This win was a breakthrough for her as she defeated Vondrousova 6-4, 6-3.
She mentioned how she planned to win points against her. It was very windy in Cancun and the condition of the court was also not good enough to play to their potential. But she used these conditions in her favor today. She planned to keep hitting hard and if it failed she would switch to plan B which was to play slices.
She also talked about her love for perfumes. She usually carries 8-9 perfumes in her tournaments. And she was wearing a Gucci floral perfume in her match against Vondrousova.
