Alex de Minaur playfully commented on his track record against Stefanos Tsitsipas after triumphing over the Greek player in the quarterfinals of the Mexican Open in Acapulco.
Despite entering the match with a history of ten consecutive losses to Tsitsipas, the Australian staged an impressive comeback, winning 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 and securing his first victory against the Greek player.
In the post-match on-court interview, De Minaur was asked about his awareness of the 10-match losing streak against Tsitsipas. He acknowledged being well aware of the statistic and humorously mentioned how he is consistently reminded of it whenever he faces the former World No. 3. While giving credit to Tsitsipas for previous victories, De Minaur expressed his satisfaction in finally breaking the losing streak.
“Of course I know. Every time I’ve gotta play him, I get reminded about my match-up. So I’m glad I got one on the board. I mean, I would like to say that no one beats me 11 times in a row. But hey, Stefanos [Tsitsipas] has had my number for a very long time. So I’m glad I was able to get one,” De Minaur said.

“I don’t like you,” Alex De Minaur declares after losing to Jannik Sinner for 7th time in a row
Jannik Sinner secured a 7-5, 6-4 victory in the ATP 500 final in Rotterdam on February 18, claiming his 12th career title and second of the year. With a current 12-match winning streak for the season, Sinner has not suffered a defeat so far.
Following his defeat in Rotterdam, De Minaur amusingly confessed to not having a fondness for the Italian.
“I don’t like you,” Alex de Minaur humorously commented under Sinner’s Instagram post celebrating his Rotterdam victory, accompanied by a laughing emoji.
This win marked Sinner’s seventh consecutive win against De Minaur, who has only managed to take one set off the Italian in their seven meetings.
