Arsenal legend Martin Keown has heaped praise on Bukayo Saka, claiming that he is now in a league of his own.
On Thursday, October 13, the Gunners defeated opponents Bodo/Glimt 1-0 in their UEFA Europa League Group A match in Norway. Saka scored the game-winning goal in the 24th minute, assisted by a lucky deflection.
What has Keown said about Bukayo Saka?
At halftime, Keown praised the English winger on BT Sport, praising him for keeping Bodo/full-backs Glimt’s on their toes.
Keown stated, “It hasn’t been thrilling but it shows the reputation Arsenal are building. Sometimes you need to grind out wins and stand up to the opposition and play when you can play”.
“When you get the ball to players like Bukayo Saka, he’s just different class at the moment this fella. He’s got the full-back on toast tonight. It was a great run for the goal, obviously he gets lucky but it’s brilliant how he gets into that area. He’s gone to another level”.
Keown stated After the game, “Saka’s top drawer. Tonight his class was the difference. He’s going through the gears in an Arsenal shirt now. All in all I think Mikel Arteta will be happy with tonight. They managed to grind out the result and they did just enough to get the win”.
Following Marquinhos’s fantastic debut, Keown stated his eagerness to watch Marquinhos improve in the future years, and the former Arsenal stalwart even likened the precocious kid to another ex-Gunner, Serge Gnabry.
Saka, who has four goals and four assists in 12 games this season across all competitions, also produced two accurate long balls and two tackles against Bodo/Glimt.
The £3million purchase of Marquinhos earlier this summer didn’t exactly send hearts racing at the Emirates Stadium, with the 19-year-old considered as a future signing – but that hasn’t stopped the talented youth from making a large early impact.
Marquinhos has caught the attention for Arsenal in the Europa League, scoring just 12 minutes into his debut against FC Zurich last month. The former Sao Paulo man then set up Eddie Nketiah for the game-winning goal, capping off a sensational start.
