While receiving the prestigious title for excellence, Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema brought his mother and son onto the stage to celebrate his Ballon d’Or with him.
Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema thanked his mother after he won the trophy. The Frenchman won the award after he gave a brilliant performance in the 2021-22 season with Los Blancos as well as the French Side.
The 34-year-old attacker scored an outrageous 44 goals and provided 15 assists in 46 games for the Spanish giants. He was one of the most prominent players in Carlo Ancelotti’s Santiago Bernabéu side.
Being the front runner in the Ballon d’Or list, the Frenchman was finally got named the winner by French Football Federation in Paris. And while giving the speech, Karim Benzema thanked his mother for believing in him and ultimately achieving a lifelong dream. He said: “It was my mother who believed in my eternal dream of winning the Ballon d’Or.”

This season in the UEFA Champions League opener against Scottish side Celtic FC, the Frenchman suffered from an injury. And after a period of recovery, the player came back scoring five goals and providing one assist in ten games this season.
The 34-year-old has always been a very talented and versatile player. In 2009, he caught the attention of Los Blancos and he was signed by them in the summer by Ligue 1 club Olympique Lyon.
But after Cristiano Ronaldo left the Spanish side, Karim Benzema took the main role in scoring goals. And he has emerged as a super prolific attacker for Santiago Bernabéu side. Speaking about the struggles and sacrifices, Benzema said:
“This makes me really proud, all the work I did, I never gave up. I had two role models in my life, Zidane and Ronaldo as well. I always had this dream in my mind that everything’s possible. There was a difficult period where I wasn’t in the French team but I worked hard and never gave up, kept my head down and enjoyed playing football.“
