Djokovic will make his 19th appearance at the Melbourne major where. He has not lost a match since the Australian Open in 2018. He has a win-loss record of 89-8 which makes him the most successful player in history with 10 titles.
In a candid interview with Jim Courier, Novak Djokovic shared his thoughts on the potential end of his career. Despite securing three Grand Slams and the 2023 ATP Finals, the 36-year-old Serbian acknowledged the challenge of meeting his expectations.
As he enters the 2024 Australian Open as the top seed, Djokovic reflects on a phenomenal year, acknowledging the impact of a favorable run on his journey.
“The goals are always very high, but the expectations that I can meet at 36 years old….I don’t know if it’s something I really expected, winning three of four Grand Slams and playing in the final of the other. I always prepare for it. It’s what I aim for when I prepare my calendar at the beginning of the season. It was an incredible year, it started off great in Australia, like most years. When the wind blows in your favor, you feel better about your year in general.”

Talking about his legacy, Djokovic expressed a desire to be remembered as a player who utilized his platform and influence to enhance the sport and fellow player’s lives. “I’d love for my legacy to be, first, and foremost, as someone who uses his platform and influence to help improve the sport and the lives of his fellow tennis players…I’d love to be remembered as someone who gave his entire life to this sport.”

Stefanos Tsitsipas has stated that Novak Djokovic‘s current form is better than his form in 2020.
The 36-year-old Djokovic is gearing up for the 2024 Australian Open and will enter the tournament as the favorite after a remarkable 2023 season. Djokovic won three Grand Slams and also reached the final of the fourth, won his 7th ATP Finals title, and also completed 400 weeks as the No.1 player.
Tsitsipas who lost to Djokovic in the 2023 Australian Open final, praised the Serbian and said that one needs to be in his best possible shape to compete against him.
“He keeps improving constantly, and I see a better Novak Djokovic now than in 2020. Against Novak, you need to be in your best possible shape. There are no excuses with him.”
