French Star N’Golo Kante will reportedly miss the 2022 Qatar World Cup due to an injury setback. Chelsea boss Graham Potter confirmed in a press conference that the defensive midfielder has suffered a setback while recovering from the injury.
N’Golo Kante played his last match for the blues on August 14, since then he has been out of action because of injury issues. He was ruled out of the Squad because of a hamstring injury. And because of Kante being out, we saw some dismal performances from the side of Chelsea too.
The Chelsea midfielder picked up his latest injury in training this week, having only just returned to fitness from an injury sustained in the 2-2 draw with Tottenham back in August.
The boss of the Stamford Bridge club said “Not Good News” in the pre-match press conference to address the condition of the French midfielder. The Athletic has confirmed that it’s really difficult for the Frenchman to get back on the field before the next year.
What does Graham Potter have to say about the condition of N’Golo Kante?
“He’s due to see a consultant at the weekend. It’s a setback, but I can’t give you anything more at this stage. Historically there are things which have happened which is a concern, so we need to get to the bottom of that.” Potter added.
N’Golo Kante’s injury is a huge loss for the French National squad because he played a huge role in France’s World Cup triumph in 2018 Russia. France’s display in the UEFA Nations League was also below-par.
“It’s a setback at this stage of this rehab which is worrying, but all we can do is get the right diagnosis, get the right consultation, and try and help him get back to full fitness and enjoying his football.” Graham Potter concluded.
Kante has won 53 caps for his country, which has been paired in a World Cup group with Australia, Denmark and Tunisia. At the club level, Chelsea has a host of central midfielders which has allowed them to fill the void left by their star.
