Celebrity chef Nusr-et Gokce better known as Salt Bae received heavy criticism after he breached FIFA rules by touching the priceless World Cup trophy. He was trolled on social media after he shared several pictures and videos with the Argentine players and the trophy on the pitch post the World Cup final.
Salt Bae was seen taking the World Cup trophy from Cuti Romero and kissing it which left a lot of fans in anger. He was also seen persuading Messi to hug him and pose for a photo while the Argentine was busy attending to friends and family after the World Cup victory.
What did the U.S. Open Cup post about Salt Bae?
In a tweet on the official Twitter page of the U.S. Open Cup, ‘‘Salt Bae is hereby banned from the 2023 @opencup Final”. The decision was taken following his actions at the Lusail stadium in the World Cup final.
The U.S. Open cup is one of the greatest and oldest football competitions in the US which fans love to watch. Over the years the popularity of the contest has increased as the quality of football and players in the US are getting better every day.
The final of the knockout competition which will take place in September later this year will be attended by various celebrities. Orlando City SC is the defending champion of the cup.
What further action will be taken against Salt Bae?
The famous chef which is known for the way he tops up his serving with a tinge of salt is now receiving a lot of hatred. According to the FIFA rules, “The original FIFA World Cup Trophy can only be touched and held by a very select group of people, which includes former winners of the FIFA World Cup and heads of state”.
Having breached this rule, FIFA could take further action against him and ban him from attending any of the matches in the future. Not only this but he could also be charged with a heavy fine.
Only time will tell whether the decline in his image and popularity could affect his restaurant sales. It will be very difficult for the Turkish chef to make up for his mistake and reiterate a positive image.
