Maria Sakkari showcased her audacious and savage side in the latest installment of the Netflix documentary, ‘Break Point: Season 2’.
Sakkari was one of the stars who graced the cover of the documentary in season one as well. The first season did a great job of identifying the potential and hunger brewing in the then-uprising talent.
The Greek tennis star was an emotional refresher, her raw emotions and non-filtered actions caught the attention of the viewers of the show.
The second season now builds upon those same traits, but things have become quite intense now. The 28-year-old Greek star appears in the fifth episode of the documentary along with Jessica Pegula. The episode highlights the ups and downs of the season, the challenges, and the similarities between their journeys.
In one of the moments in the show, the Greek star was asked about her haters and nay-sayers and what message she would like to give them.
The question prompted the savage side of Sakkari to come up and In a very natural and spontaneous way, Maria replied :
“That’s not very ladylike to say, but F**k them all, I don’t give a f**k.”
One fan took the moment from the show to post it as a motivational quote for the new year. He tweeted :
“Big mood for 2024”.

Reflecting on the episode, Sakkari remarked that the episode was ‘spot on’, on a lot of the things that were shown.
“I think that the combination of myself and Jess was very accurate because we’re more or less the same age, similar career paths because we came in quite late, we weren’t amazing juniors,” she said.
She also pointed out that she was a bit ‘concerned’ about her image among fans who might take that moment as an ill trait of hers.
“I was a little concerned with how the episode ended because it was not very ladylike to say the F-word, But for what they were asking me, it was very natural. I really hope I don’t come across like someone who likes to curse.”
Things didn’t go as planned for Maria Sakkari, but Why?
Maria Sakkari had a big goal for the 2023 season i.e. to win a major title. However, things didn’t quite work out for her. We explore why.
The Netflix episode shed light on the mental struggles that Maria had to live through during the mid-season around the time of Wimbledon. It was a dark time for her and where for once she feared to even play on the court.
In an earlier conversation with Anett Kontaveit, she highlighted her mental struggles of coping with the expectations of being Number 1.
“I was not ready for the idea of being that close to No. 1.”
Even though Maria couldn’t win a title, she did break an infamous and long-standing curse of hers when she lifted the WTA 1000 title at the Guadalajara Open. She defeated Caroline Dolehide in a two-set, 7-5, 6-3 win to claim her first title since 2019.
