Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas had a funny on-court moment after their doubles match at the World Tennis League (WTL) in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.
The off-court incident was hilarious and surprising for not just the tennis fans but Stefanos himself. Paula Badosa while making her post-match comments in an on-court interview joked about her relationship with Stefanos.
The Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas and his girlfriend Paula Badosa have been a couple since May 2023 and aren’t shy about showing their love. The couple were supposed to team up at Wimbledon for mixed doubles, but Paula had to bail after pulling out during her second-round singles match.
Paula didn’t play much in 2023 because of a bothering back problem, but she was always there, cheering Stefanos on from the sidelines.
However, she did recover from her injury and is ready to compete for the upcoming season. The duo played their first match together at the WTL exhibition event in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, December 21.
They were a part of Team Kites which also features the World No. 2 Women Singles player, Aryna Sabalenka and Grigor Dimitrov. The couple were up against Team Eagles’ Daniil Medvedev and Sofia Kenin. Stefano and Paula won their round 6-4 versus the Eagles’ pairing.
Following the win, the former World No. 2 humorously revealed the condition she had set if the match didn’t swing their way.
“I mean, I think this was the test. Like, either we get divorced or this goes better and better. So that was the test today.”

Stefanos: “It’s a true pleasure to share the court with someone I’ve followed for a few years. My favorite female tennis player” ❤ pic.twitter.com/cZuH3kkGcS
Stefanos Tsitsipas found himself a bit surprised when the 26-year-old mentioned ‘divorce’ instead of ‘break-up.’
“You mean to break up?”
“Yeah. Divorce, no. Break up. Sorry,”
Tsitsipas then wondered if his girlfriend was hinting at the next step in their relationship.
“I was trying to wait for a moment. I was thinking, since when I was married or something, But apparently there are some hints in there.”
