WWE Commentator Corey Graves knows that he will probably catch some hell for the remarks he made during his After the Bell as he criticized the Women’s Tag team division and also referred to it as a temporary division.
While the division itself has been there for almost 4 years with sixteen different teams holding the titles, most of the teams have been created in quick succession and made the titles and division itself look a little irrelevant.
In After the Bell podcast, Graves heavily criticized the women’s tag division pointing out the weakness in terms of established teams. Graves stated that for him it was never a strong division and to his statement, and he added that he might get a lot of heat for this.
Graves added that the division itself has a lot of randomnesses as partners get exchanged more often after a team underperforms which makes the title picture a little ill. According to the announcer, the division is quite transient and completely in flux, he further added that he questioned the existence of the titles since the very beginning.
Corey further praised the current women’s tag team champions Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan and thinks they have what it takes to solidify the whole tag division.
According to him, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce who were known as the IIconics were closest to being a serious team to win the tag belts back in 2019. Now known Jessie McKay and Cassie Lee are the only full-time pair to hold the tag titles back in 2019.
Sasha Banks and Bayley became the first women’s tag team champions after they were introduced back in WWE in 2019 and since then the titles have changed hands many times including the controversial exit of Mercedes Mone (Sasha Banks) and Trinity Fatu(Naomi) over their frustration on how badly the women’s tag division was booked and how they felt really unhappy about it.
The statements from Corey Graves are already getting a lot of backfire from the fans and other people in the community. A lot of fans are in heat of the moment while some do support what Corey stands for and what is really happening in the company.
