When Erling Haaland joined Pep Guardiola‘s Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund earlier this season, some people said that he won’t be able to work wonders in the English Premier League because it’s a lot different from German football.
But proving the critics and trolls wrong, the young Norwegian striker broke several English Premier League records in his initial matchdays under Pep Guardiola. With the help of Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden, his goal count has already skyrocketed.
The 22-year-old has scored 14 goals in 10 matches for the Etihad Stadium side. Earlier, he was compared with Sergio Aguero but his stats easily surpassed him in all matters.
Erling Haaland also has two hat-tricks for Manchester City that came against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest on consecutive matchdays. The Norwegian striker has used his striking prowess very efficiently until now.
What does Alfie Haaland have to say about his son, Erling Haaland?
The way everything is going on, it feels like the former Borussia Dortmund striker can emerge as a City Legend. But his father and former Manchester City player Alfie Haaland have said that his son has different ambitions and further plans for his football career.
“He could have 2½ years in Germany, 2½ in England, and then in Spain, Italy, France, right? We do not know if it will be like that, but I think he would like to test his abilities in the big leagues.”
He added: “When I was a young boy, like everyone, I dreamt about becoming the best footballer in the world and making a living off it. Now I do. I think money is important for everyone in this world. To make the most money, that is not the main focus, but you would like to make as much as possible.”
He also said that Erling Haaland’s childhood dream was always of becoming a good football player. The Norwegian ace signed a five-year contract with Cityzens earlier this summer.
According to reports, Haaland earns £400,000 a week, and it’s clear that not all the clubs can afford the price tag.
