Carlos Alcaraz, the world no. 2, in a recent press conference, cursed his own old friend from childhood days for apparently leaking out some of their old stories.
The Spaniard who currently ranks no. 2 in the world despite facing a quarter-final exit from the Australian Open this year is currently in Argentina to defend his Argentina Open title from last year. In a recent press conference, Alcaraz was asked some personal questions to which the youngster replied quite promptly and even cussed his old friend.
Alcaraz who was expected to have a vastly successful start to this year’s campaign fizzled in the quarter-final and lost the match to Alexander Zverev. After winning Wimbledon last year, things have somehow not taken off the way he and his camp would have expected. So, Carlos decided that it was best for him to take a small break after the Australian Open to charge up and re-strategize for the tour.
He’s now in Argentina and seems to be enjoying himself again. In this recent interaction with the Argentinian media, Alcaraz reflected on some memories from his childhood. The nostalgic memories were prompted when a reporter asked the Spaniard about a particular phrase i.e. ‘leave by bike’.
“What does the phrase ‘leave by bike’ mean?,” the reporter asked.
To which Alcaraz responded by explaining the meaning behind the term and how it brings back old memories for him.
“When you lose 6-0, 6-0;” Carlos responded.
“Have you left by bike?,” a follow-up question asked by the reporter.
“To a friend from Murcia, Antonio Lopez when I was 10.. Antonito, if you see this.. asshole.”
Alcaraz begins his title defense against Argentinian challenger Camilo Ugo Carabelli in the Round of 16.

Carlos Alcaraz was given a reality check by his coach Samuel Lopez who believes that even though the Spaniard is destined to do great things in the future, he has not yet reached that level.
Coach Samuel is on a visit to the JC Ferrero India tennis academy in Pune, India was asked some questions about the statements of Novak Djokovic about his coachee Alcaraz saying that he combines the best traits of the Big 3 and is up next for tennis stardom.
To which, Samuel Lopez replied:
“I think that Djokovic needed to say something about Carlos. Maybe it is an unbelievable comparison, it is very nice for Carlos. But it’s not [the case],” coach Samuel said.
“Of course he has the level, the level like Sinner. But for the moment they [Big 3] are kings. Carlos is a prince. You need to fight, to continue, and maybe one day you can be a king like them,” he said in response to the question.
