Alexander Zverev is set to face trial in Berlin’s criminal court following allegations of domestic abuse by his ex-girlfriend Brenda Patea, as per reports from Germany.
Patea, who shares a child with Zverev, accused the former US Open runner-up of causing “bodily harm” last year, leading to a $450,000 penalty fine imposed by the Berlin prosecutor’s office. According to a spokesperson from Berlin court, Lisa Jani, Zverev is expected to attend a trial in May 2024.

Zverev has consistently denied the allegations and expressed his innocence since they became public. Another accusation of domestic abuse came from his former girlfriend Olga Sharypova. Despite a thorough investigation, the ATP ruled there was insufficient evidence to take disciplinary action, allowing Zverev to continue participating in tournaments.
“A major independent investigation into Alexander Zverev has found insufficient evidence to substantiate published allegations of abuse. As a result, no disciplinary action will be taken by ATP.”
While the trials are in the coming months, it remains uncertain how this proceeding might affect Zverev’s participation in tournaments. He is currently playing at the Australian Open in Melbourne and is set to play his first-round match against German tennis player Dominik Koepfer.
