Neymar, striker for Brazil, reportedly won’t play against Switzerland and possibly Cameroon too, in their next FIFA World Cup match after suffering a horrific injury against Serbia.
On November 24, Le Selecao defeated Serbia 2-0. Both game’s goals were scored by Richarlison, who also made a fantastic bicycle kick. To everyone’s dismay, their magical No. 10 limped off during the last minutes of the game while clearly in pain.
Richarlison’s second-half double gave the South Americans the opportunity to begin their campaign for their first championship in 20 years, but Neymar’s forced departure 10 minutes from time dimmed the mood somewhat.
The Paris Saint-Germain player is apparently slated to miss at least the Swiss match, and the outcome of the Nati match could determine whether he plays against Cameroon in the final group match.
This would be a huge loss to Brail’s side as their main striker, the man in form could miss some of their matches. But if Brazil made it to the qualifiers (which they probably will do) and Neymar return to those matches then it would be good for Brazilians as those are more important matches for them. But Neymar’s absence would make an impact on the Brazilian squad even though they have other good names.
BRAZIL’S DOMINATION AGAINST SERBIA
Brazil defeated Serbia 2-0 at the Lusail Stadium in a Group G encounter thanks to two goals from Richarlison in the second half.
After spending more than an hour trying to breach the Serbian defense, Richarlison scored twice in the final nine minutes to give Brazil a convincing victory. Both of the goals were assisted by Vinicius Jr.
Before turning up the heat in the second half, Brazil had already hit the post several times during the game and Vanja Milinkovic-Savic had also come up with some respectable saves. However, Serbia didn’t provide much at the top as Alexander Mitrovic and the company had trouble making any significant progress. Thus losing their first match against Brazil.
Fans’ Reaction to Neymar’s Injury
Fans are very sad and disappointed, as it was going to be Neymar’s last World Cup. Everyone wanted to see him play.
Some fans are even angry at him for tackling so hard as he is so important to the team and this is the World Cup.
Though the star is keeping himself positive, when he was asked about his injury and missing 2 final group stage matches, he replied, “I have confidence and faith”.
