Young attacker Armando Broja has given Chelsea supporters a moment to smile as he’s given an honest interview regarding his links and association with North London club Tottenham Hotspur.
The striker was picked up by the Lilywhites when he was a schoolboy. However, his dream was always to play for the Stamford Bridge side. And to make the story good, it didn’t take their scouts long to notice his talent.
Armando Broja came into the picture when he scored six goals for Southampton in his loan spell last season. And Todd Boehly owned side thinks that the young Albania International can be a bright prospect for their side in the near future.
The blues also had to battle the interests of Everton and West Ham United to save their boy earlier in this summer transfer window. But things would have been utterly different if he would have stayed at Tottenham Hotspur.
What does Armando Broja say about Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in him?
In a recent interview with Players Tribune Football, Armando Broja detailed the moment he first heard of Tottenham’s interest after impressing in youth football.
“I was at Burnham Juniors, the club I was first at and I remember going to a tournament,” he said. “The Tottenham scout actually came to watch another boy. I happened to play well that tournament, I got top goalscorer and best player.“
“They approached my mum and dad before I even knew about it so when I came back, my mum and dad said; ‘Tottenham came over to us’. I was just thinking, ‘Who’s Tottenham?’. Because I was quite young, I only knew my Sunday league team [and Chelsea].”
The young attacker has to be patient at Stamford Bridge because he has to face the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kai Havertz for his position. His loyalty to the club was rewarded when the blues gave him a 6-year contract earlier this summer.
Former Brighton boss Graham Potter has been the charge of Chelsea for only one game. And in the match, the young attacker was subbed in after the one-hour mark. And possibilities regarding Armando Broja getting a start for Chelsea against Crystal Palace are quite high.
