Why is 'The Undertaker' called the 'Deadman'?

The Undertaker is simply among the greatest WWE Superstars to ever step in the ring.

But you might wonder why the seven-time world heavyweight champion is known as the "Deadman"?

The real name of the WWE Superstar is Mark William Calaway. He was rebranded under WWF where he gained popularity with his horror-based character.

The Deadman is the name of The Undertaker's real horror gimmick which started in 1990.

It was because they wanted to portray him as an undead zombie that can never be killed no matter how much he was buried alive or set on fire.

The Undertaker was locked in a casket twice, first by his on-reel brother Kane in 1998 and again by Randy Orton in 2005.

In his long-term spell of 30 years in the business, the Undertaker was crowned as the world heavyweight champion seven times, WWF/E Championship four times and World Heavyweight Championship three times.

The Deadman also had an unforgettable record at WrestleMania with 21 straight wins. Although Brock Lesnar broke the streak at WrestleMania XXX.
