Whos is Matt Ryan?
Ryan has been a rising basketball star from White Plains, New York before becoming an NBA player.
Ryan was a highly regarded recruit who committed to Notre Dame in 2014 as a four-star prospect.
He chose to move after earning only four starts in his first two seasons with the Fighting Irish.
He appeared a long way from being a useful NBA player, making only 34.7 percent of his field goals and 32.8 percent of his 3-point attempts.
As a prospect, he struck his groove for Chattanooga, averaging 15.4 points, 4.9 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game on 42.3/35.9/87.9 shooting splits.
Ryan would get his shot in 2021, when he was named to the Cavaliers' summer league squad.
This drew the attention of NBA and G-League personnel. He bounced around a bit, signing a deal with the Nuggets
Ryan was signed by the Lakers for the 2022-23 season. So far, it's been a very natural fit for them.
Ryan established on Wednesday that he will be more than ready if his number is called again.
The 25-year-old had to wait longer than expected to make it to the big stage.
