Ajax Amsterdam FC ranks sixth in this category, by winning Europe's most prestigious trophy four times 1970-71, 1971-72, 1972-73, 1994-95. They are one of three clubs that have won the competition three times consecutively. The club has also appeared in three additional finals finishing as runners-up.

Currently, Barça has won the competition five times, putting the blaugranes among the most successful clubs in the event, along with the Catalan club. In 1955, AC Milan became the first Italian club to qualify for the European Cup. Since then, the club has taken part in every UEFA-sponsored competition. The club's most successful tournament is the European Cup/UEFA Champions League, which they have won seven times, the first in 1963, making them the first Italian team to do so. They are the second most decorated club in the Champions League history. They have won it seven Champions League titles (1962-63, 1968,69, 1988-89, 1989-90, 1993-94, 2002-03, 2006-07).

Real Madrid are the most decorated club in the history of European football. Real Madrid won the first competition and is the only club to have won the trophy five times in a row (the first five editions). Real Madrid has won the European Cup the most times, a record fourteen times (1955 to 1960, 1965-66, 1997-98, 1999-00, 2001-02,2013-14, 2015 to 2018, 2021-22).
