7 biggest transfer blunders  in Football History

7. Nicolas Pepe to Arsenal (2019)

Nicolas Pepe joined Arsenal with huge hype and he left without making a sound. The Gunners paid £72m for the Ivorian to sign him from Lille and except for his first year at Emirates Stadium, he failed to give a noticeable performance. He currently plays for OGC Nice.

6. Alvaro Morata to Chelsea (2017)

Interestingly enough, Alvaro Morata has been indulged in several failed spells at top-tier clubs. But his worst spell was at Chelsea FC. Where he scored 16 Premier League goals during a miserable 18-month stay. The Stamford Bridge side signed him for a huge bill of £60m ($75m).

5. Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea (2021)

Lukaku is a problem Inter Milan player, although he joined Chelsea but his heart was in Milan and he performed terribly for Stamford Bridge in his first year. Chelsea paid £97.5m for the Belgian striker and now he's back at Inter Milan on a loan deal.

4. Paul Pogba to Manchester United (2016)

France International Paul Pogba joined Manchester United in 2016 for an approximate transfer fee of £89m. And in his whole spell at the club, he was below average. He also picked up a dispute with Jose Mourinho playing for Manchester United and this summer, left the club as a free agent.

3. Eden Hazard to Real Madrid (2019)

Eden Hazard was once counted alongside the best players in the world. And in similar hopes, the Belgian joined Los Blancos in 2019 for a transfer fee of €100m (rising to €146m with add-ons). And everything went down for the player afterwards. Several Injuries made sure that he stays out of action.

2. Antoine Griezmann to FC Barcelona (2019)

Another Frenchman in the list, Antonie Griezmann was signed by Barcelona in huge hopes of conquering Europe, Blaugrana paid €120m for the attacker but Griezmann wasn't the guy for Barca. He has now again joined Atletico Madrid and Diego Simeone will be laughing after the transfer.

1. Philippe Coutinho to FC Barcelona (2018)

Philippe Coutinho joined FC Barcelona at the high time as their £105m (rising to £142m with add-ons) went down the drain. Firstly, he failed to perform consistently at Barcelona and in 2019/20, he knocked out Barca from the UCL playing for Bayern Munich.
