NBA takes a night off: Celebrates Election Day

After a great action-packed Monday, NBA will shut down on Tuesday night on the occasion of Election Day.

There will be no NBA games played on 8th November 2022 and all the 30 teams and their players and staff get a leave to vote.

This is also a step to spread awareness to people and encourage them to get up and put up their precious vote.

Earlier on Monday night many players were spotted wearing "VOTE" t-shirts during the National Anthem.

Executive director of the National Basketball Social Justice Coalition says: “We don’t usually change the schedule for an external event."

“But voting and Election Day are obviously unique and incredibly important to our democracy.”

“The NBA is creating a culture of political participation, which extends not only to its athletes but to fans as well,” says Andrea Hailey, CEO of Vote.org.

"The league is setting an important precedent that I hope other businesses and leagues will follow.”
