Lionel Messi names his favourites for the World Cup

Argentina's prospects of overcoming a 36-year FIFA World Cup championship drought in Qatar will be hampered by Brazil, France, and England.

According to Albiceleste captain Lionel Messi, "Whenever we talk about candidates, we always talk about the same teams".

He said, If I have to put some above others I think Brazil, France and England are a little bit above the rest.

Messi added, "But the World Cup is so difficult and so complicated that anything can happen".

Argentina's FIFA World Cup 2022 campaign will begin on November 22 against Saudi Arabia.

Argentina is unbeaten in their last 35 games, which includes the Copa America final against Brazil in 2021.

Messi will compete in his fifth and probably the last, World Cup. His teammates will undoubtedly want to make their captain's final World Cup special.
