Isiah Thomas recalls the time Larry Bird fired him as the head coach of the Indiana Pacers

Isiah Thomas recently got into the news after he openly criticised Micheal Jordan because of his portrayal in The Last Dance documentary.

"I'm watching it with my family, and I'm thinking everything is good. And then this guy comes on television, and he says that he hates me and then he calls me an assh--e!"

"And then I proceed to watch a whole documentary about him being an assh--e. I'm like wait a minute, time out. Until I get a public apology, this beef is gonna go on for a long long time" Thomas said.

After the open criticism of Micheal Jordan, Isiah Thomas also shared a story about how Larry Bird fired him in 2003 as the head coach of Indiana Pacers.

Pacers reached the NBA Finals in 2000 when Thomas was the head coach. But in 2003, the President of Pacers, Larry Bird asked him to leave.

"You know Cheesy, he always called me Cheesy; I really like you; you've done a good job here. The team is going in the right direction, but I am going to make a coaching change."

"I said wait, Larry, before you do that, let me just say this, I think you and I would make a great team here. I don't know who you think of hiring but give me a chance." Thomas said.

But Bird was really straightforward with Isiah Thomas. And Larry immediately told Thomas that he wants to hire Rick Carlisle.
