On Thursday, Brooklyn Nets announced that they have suspended Kyrie Irving.
Brooklyn Nets took the action days after he tweeted a link to a documentary that has been criticized as antisemitic. Furthermore, the player also defended his tweet and himself.
Brooklyn Nets published a statement regarding Kyrie Irving's situation on Twitter.
"Understand the harm and danger of his words and actions, which began with him publicizing a film containing deeply disturbing antisemitic hate."
Irving was also condemned by Nets owner Joe Tsai after he tweeted the link to a 2018 movie "Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America," last week.
The movie was highly criticised by civil rights groups as according to them it was antisemitic.
The Nets said they were "dismayed" on Thursday when Irving "refused to unequivocally say he has no antisemitic beliefs, nor acknowledge specific hateful material in the film," during a media session.
The player also issued an Apology regarding the matter on Twitter.
"To All Jewish families and Communities that are hurt and affected by my post, I am deeply sorry to have caused you pain, and I apologize."
Nets and Irving announced on Wednesday that they'll donate $500,000 to the Anti-Defamation League but after the suspension, ADL has also rejected the Donation.
