"Kyrie Irving is not antisemitic," proclaims NBA commissioner Adam Silver

Earlier, Kyrie Irving had made a controversial post that involved link to a movie and book that contained antisemitic beliefs.

His social media post had hurt the Jewish masses and had stirred up a lot of trouble for him as he was suspended by the Nets and Nike broke off their relationship with the player.

Many people along with the NBA commissioner himself had stated his actions as reckless. Disappointed Adam Silver later met up with Kyrie on the matter and had a private talk.

After their meeting, Adam Silver came up to the media and stated that Kyrie doesn't house any antisemitic beliefs in his mind and is on the contrary a kind and polite man.

Kyrie says: “He’s someone I’ve known for a decade, and I’ve never heard an antisemitic word from him or, frankly, hate directed at any group.”

“Whether or not he is antisemitic is not relevant to the damage caused by the posting of hateful content.”

“And in retrospect, we may have been able to get there faster. I accept that criticism. But I felt it was important to understand the context in which it was posted."

"To understand what discipline was appropriate, not in any way to excuse it but to understand what discipline was appropriate.”
